PTA Men
Partners in Making a Difference

This program recognizes the important and different contribution that men make in childrens lives and in their education. All men involved in a youngsters lifefathers, uncles, grandpas, brothers, step-fathers, mentors, neighbors, pastors and friends impact the children they care about.  Research clearly shows that male involvement positively influences academic success at all levels of schoolingpreschool through college!  When male figures are involved with kid's schooling, kids enjoy school more and perform better in and out of school.

Essay Contest
Men make a difference in the lives of the children they care about, and children are more successful in and out of school when they have the guidance of an involved male role model.  Washington State PTA promoted a statewide essay contest that explored this vital relationship – from our children’s perspective.

National PTA's "Getting Men Involved"
Many people, when they hear parent involvement and PTA, automatically think of mothers. Women are vital to fulfilling PTA's Mission, but male involvement in PTA should not be discounted. A strong, vibrant PTA should be inclusive of all parents–and that means PTAs must find ways to include dads.

This program is an innovative national initiative focusing on the prevention of violence in our children's schools by using the positive influence of fathers and father-figures for a twofold purpose:  to provide an unobtrusive presence in the schools and be a positive and active male role-model for children.  Click here for "Watch DOGS- One PTA Mom’s Experience" by Melissa Musser from North Hill Elementary PTA.
