Awards of Excellence
The Local PTA and Council Awards of Excellence Program recognizes local PTAs, community PTAs, and councils whose level of effort in specific areas help them make a difference in their community. To participate in the Local PTA and Council Awards of Excellence Program, the PTA or council must meet the following standards:
- Be in compliance with the requirements of the Standards of Affiliation (SOA). If the PTA or council was chosen for periodic review, all requirements must be in order.
- The PTA must be up to date on membership dues payments to WSPTA.
- The PTA must have at least 25 paid members (or an approved waiver) by October 31.
- The PTA or council must have a president identified in the WSPTA membership database.
All submissions are due March 15, 2023.

Advocacy Award of Excellence
The purpose of this award is to promote advocacy at local PTAs, community PTAs, and councils by recognizing programs, projects, and activities/events that increase awareness of and participation in advocacy issues at the school, local community, council, region, state, and national level. Family and Community Engagement Award of Excellence
The purpose of this award is to promote family and community engagement at local PTAs, community PTAs, and councils by recognizing programs, projects, and activities/events that increase family and community engagement and involvement. Outstanding Communication Strategy
The Outstanding Communications Strategy Award recognizes local PTA and council use of all forms of communication. Use of multiple forms of communication is important in reaching all of the membership and/or community served.

PTAs Taking Significant Action
The purpose of the PTAs Taking Significant Action Award is to recognize the accomplishments of local PTAs and councils across the state that present programs, projects, and activities that show significant originality, involvement, potential, usefulness and results. These programs are things that other PTAs and councils may want to replicate.

Standards of Excellence
The Standards of Excellence Award is a tool to encourage the use of the best practices of PTA management. If your local PTA or council has not participated in awards, the Standards of Excellence is a great place to start. Participating in the Standards of Excellence could be used as a reporting tool to your members.

Outstanding PTA of the Year
2021-2022 Recipients:
Peter Kirk Elementary PTSA 2.8.45 – Primary PTA of the Year
Everett PTSA Council 7.3 – Secondary or Council PTA of the Year
2020-2021 Recipients:
Skyview Middle School PTSA 6.10.69 – Secondary PTA of Year
Mark Twain Elementary PTSA 2.8.65 – Primary PTA of the Year
WSPTA recognizes that this has been a tough year in so many ways. We want to offer you the opportunity to be acknowledged for all of your hard work.
The application process for the Outstanding PTA of the Year has been removed. Instead, the WSPTA Programs Committee will select the Outstanding PTA of the Year. Eligibility for consideration of the designation of Outstanding PTA of the Year will be based on all PTAs that earn a Standards of Excellence award.
WSPTA will select one elementary PTA and one secondary PTA for an Outstanding PTA of the Year Award. Each PTA will receive a $1,000 grant.
