Dear Members,
PTA was founded as an advocacy organization and for over 120 years has advocated on behalf of children and youth at the school, district, state, and national levels. It is an amazing history of a grassroots organization changing the course of history and making our world a better place. Most incredibly, almost all of that work was and is done by volunteers.
You are an advocate. Since before school started, you have been advocating for your child. With the start of kindergarten, you took that advocacy to their school, ensuring that they received the best education that they could. When you joined PTA, you took that advocacy a step further. You joined with other parents and began working together, finding common purpose and the power that comes from the collective voice. You improved your child’s school, assisted with their education, and made friends along the way. It is time to take it a step further.
Unless you are completely ignoring Washington State PTA (and wouldn’t be reading this anyway), you know that we are coming up on the 2020 Legislative Assembly. This annual event is an opportunity for any member to become a delegate for their local PTA, participate, and set the direction for our advocacy efforts for the next year or more. You, too, can make a difference in the lives of all of the children in our state. We need your voice, your experience, and your energy to make the right choices and find the right path forward. Please join us.
See you at the Legislative Assembly!
