September Programs Plug

Here is the first Programs Plug to help let you know about what’s new.  Your help is needed to promote all our PTA programs so we can meet our goal for increased participation.

The biggest news is that Washington State PTA (WSPTA) will be using a new online submission platform for most of our awards this year.  There is still a lot of testing that we need to do but it will be live in time for Reflections submissions.  Be watching for updates.  It will be very important that all PTAs have their ID number listed where students and families can find it so they can complete the online entry forms.  We had numerous incomplete entry forms last year because families couldn’t find their PTA number listed anywhere.

This year’s Reflections theme is “I Will Change The World By..” and submissions to WSPTA will be virtual again.  Local PTAs and councils can decide if they want to accept actual entries or stay virtual themselves.  Submissions are due to WSPTA by January 21, 2022.  Our first Reflections training will be at the Autumn Leadership Launch (A.L.L.) on September 18, registration to A.L.L. is required to attend.  Entries for the Reflections theme search contest are due November 1 by completing the new online form.

This year’s theme for the Game Development Competition is “Changing The World”.  This year students in grades 6-12 may participate individually or in teams to submit a board game. We really want to promote board game submissions. Students in grades 9-12 may participate individually or in teams for computer games. Students in grades 6-8 can compete with a team that has members in grade 9 or above.

For PTAs considering submitting/applying for a Standards of Excellence award, be sure to consult the  Best Practices Timeline so you know you have what you need.
