Are you an incoming (or returning) officer or PTA board member? Join us for information and training that will help you make the most of your position as a PTA leader and set your PTA up for success! Position-specific and all board training will be offered, along with advocacy and membership roundtables designed to give ideas and best practices for building an active and engaged PTA!
These WSPTA presentations are approved trainings and satisfy the annual training requirement in the Standards of Affiliation. Please keep a copy of your registration for your PTA records.

Treasurer Basics
Learn what you need to know to be a successful PTA treasurer, whether it’s your first time or your third time. Discuss bookkeeping essentials, recommended financial procedures, and the best practices that will keep your PTA on solid financial footing!
Secretary, More than Minutes
In this session, participants will learn about taking minutes, making motions, and organization for PTA secretaries.
Thursday, October 7, 2021 – 7:00-9:00 p.m.
Presidents: Plan to Succeed
From start to finish, this class will guide you through your most important jobs as a president. We’ll discuss building and leading your team, chairing meetings, communication, legal compliance, and how to develop relationships that will allow your PTA to work collaboratively with your school administration and community leaders.
The Effective Vice President
The role of the vice president is the most flexible and versatile on the board of directors. Vice presidents don’t just shadow the president; they are an essential link between the board of directors and the PTA’s volunteers and chair people. Get some tips and tricks to manage the role of vice president and get set up for success!
Saturday, October 9, 2021 – 9:00-11:00 a.m.
New Leader Launch
This session is focused on supporting those leaders brand new to a local PTA board or executive committee. We will learn the “101” on PTA, including governance structures, where to get help and resources, the ins and outs of the Standards of Affiliation, and what goes on in a typical calendar year. This is a definite must-attend for anyone brand new to a local PTA board!

Advocacy Roundtable
In this interactive discussion, advocacy leaders will have an opportunity to meet each other, ask questions and learn from other leaders. Hear ideas for what your local PTA or council can do to educate, empower and elevate parent and student voices, take positions on ballot measures (levies and bonds), engage your school board, and more!
Membership Roundtable
In this interactive discussion, membership leaders will have an opportunity to meet each other, ask questions and learn from other leaders.
