OLYMPIA – March 27 – Yakima parent and WSPTA Area D Vice President, Amanda Shipman, testified in favor of SHB 1377; a bill designed to support student social emotional learning and collaboration among school psychologists, social workers, and counselors.
“It was my first time testifying at the capitol. It was amazing, I had my family with me and afterwards they were so proud of me and thought it was cool. It did get pushed back but got to hear a lot on another bill that my son was, like, ‘wow,'” stated Amanda about the experience testifying. She and her family waited nearly 90 minutes for her to testify. It was worth the wait, as her testimony was compelling and heartfelt. You can watch the testimony here.
